The Challenge
As a non-profit focused on environmental health and justice, Coming Clean sought help to better communicate the distinct and actionable route between their offerings and their goals. With increasingly diverse and evolving funding sources, the organization also needed to expand the ways they could interact with current and prospective members. Additionally, given a relatively small core team, they needed to establish efficient operational processes that could support continued growth.
The Solution
Friday guided a strategic planning process that focused on the theory of change, identifying the best ways to build capacity, and establishing priorities that aligned with the organization’s vision. This included clarifying the membership experience and exploring potential membership models that would support the organization’s changing needs. The resulting Strategy, Capacity & Impact Roadmap led the way through design, development, and launch of a new member guide, site and listserv tool, Member Giving Program, and progress monitoring system. In addition to a 20th anniversary logo and miscellaneous communication materials, we also created virtual facilitation workshops for staff & members. The results included the number of consistently active members more than doubling, the Member Giving Program generating 13% of the org’s income in its first year, and the hiring of a full-time Network Organizer.
